Mrs. Trinity Saioo is a renowned social worker and activist from Meghalaya, India. She has dedicated her life to serving the marginalized communities in her region and has worked tirelessly to improve their living conditions and empower them. Her efforts have been recognized by the Government of India, which honoured her with the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2021.
Mrs. Saioo was born in the village of Shangpung in the Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. She grew up in poverty and experienced the challenges faced by many people living in rural areas of India. This inspired her to devote herself to social work and community development.
In the 1980s, Mrs. Saioo became involved in the Meghalaya State Women’s Commission, where she worked to promote gender equality and women’s rights. She also founded the Jaintia Hills Women’s Federation, an organization that works to empower women and improve their economic and social status.
One of Mrs. Saioo’s most significant achievements has been the establishment of the Shangpung Development Society, a non-profit organization that provides a range of services to the local community. Under her leadership, the organization has implemented numerous programs to improve the health, education, and livelihoods of the people in the area. The society has set up schools, health centres, and vocational training programs, and has helped to create employment opportunities for local people.
Mrs. Saioo’s work has had a significant impact on the lives of many people in Meghalaya, particularly women and children. Her dedication and commitment to social justice have earned her widespread respect and admiration, both in her community and beyond. The Padma Shri award, which is one of the highest civilian honours in India, is a fitting recognition of her remarkable achievements and her tireless efforts to improve the lives of others.
